Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Insurance coverage for weight loss medications is not widely available. Our medicine comes with no monthly membership fees, no contracts, no annual fees – No hidden costs, not ever.

We provide a superbill – a detailed document that healthcare providers give to patients, which includes information about the services provided during a medical visit. It serves as a summary of the treatment, including diagnoses, procedures, dates of service, and other relevant details. Patients can submit this superbill to their insurance company for reimbursement if the provider is out-of-network or if the patient is seeking reimbursement for covered services.

In a nutshell, a superbill includes:

  • Patient information (name, ID, etc.)
  • Healthcare provider details
  • CPT codes (Current Procedural Terminology) for procedures performed
  • ICD codes (International Classification of Diseases) for diagnoses
  • Cost of services
  • Dates of service

Insurance companies use the superbill to process claims and reimburse the patient or provider based on the insurance policy’s terms. It is commonly used when the provider does not directly bill the insurance company or when the patient is responsible for submitting the claim. This can be used for all medical treatments including blood and lab testing.

The initial visit includes a consultation with a Doctor or Nurse Practitioner, the first Semaglutide injection, and a prescription order typically for the next 4 weeks.

Typically follow up visits are monthly for a weigh in, 3D body scan and refills.

Results do vary, but in a 68-week medical study of 1,961 adults living with obesity or excess weight with a related medical problem, adults lost ~35 lbs (or ~15% body weight). People taking placebo lost an average of 6 lbs (or ~2.5% body weight). The average starting weight for both groups was ~232 lbs.

Results are from a 68-week medical study of adults with obesity (BMI ≥30) and adults with excess weight (BMI ≥27) who also had weight-related medical problems including high blood pressure or high cholesterol. People with type 2 diabetes were excluded. Both groups were instructed to take the medicine along with a reduced-calorie meal plan and increased physical activity. 7% of people taking Wegovy™ (92 people) left the medical study due to side effects, compared to 3.1% of people taking placebo (20 people).

There is no set time for you to begin seeing results because people respond differently to medicine.

The side effects that you may experience may include: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach (abdomen) pain, headache, tiredness (fatigue), upset stomach, dizziness, feeling bloated, belching, gas, stomach flu, and heartburn.

If you are having any side effects that are bothersome, tell your health care provider.

Vitamin injectables are specially formulated solutions containing necessary vitamins that are delivered directly into the body via subcutaneous (SubQ), intramuscular, or intravenous (IV) methods. These injectables bypass the digestive system, allowing for faster absorption and utilization by the body. This direct delivery system can enhance vitamin bioavailability, helping to improve energy levels, support immune function, and promote overall health.

.

Subcutaneous (SubQ) injections are administered just under the skin, intramuscular injections are delivered deeper into the muscles, and intravenous (IV) injections are given directly into the bloodstream. Each method has different absorption rates and uses; for example, IV vitamin injections allow for immediate effects and higher potency, while SubQ and intramuscular injections may be used for sustained vitamin absorption over time.

While vitamin injectables are generally considered safe when administered by qualified professionals, potential side effects may include soreness at the injection site, allergic reactions, or infection risk. It’s important to consult with a healthcare provider to determine if vitamin injections are suitable for you, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking other medications.

The best way to determine which vitamin injectables are suitable for you is to schedule a consultation with a healthcare professional. During the consultation, your provider will assess your health history, current dietary habits, and wellness goals to create a personalized vitamin injection plan tailored to your specific needs

Peptide injections contain specific peptides designed to support various bodily functions. Peptides are chains of amino acids that play a crucial role in regulating biological processes. When added to the bloodstream, peptides can enhance healing, promote muscle recovery, improve cognitive function, and reduce inflammation. They work by signaling the body to perform specific functions, thus aiding in overall wellness and recovery.

Yes, peptide injections are considered safe when used under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional. Powers Medical Weight Loss & Wellness, we ensure that all peptides used in our therapies are clinically approved and of high quality. A personalized assessment will be conducted to determine the appropriate peptide therapy for you, taking into account your health history and specific needs.

The timeline for seeing results from peptide therapy can vary depending on the specific peptides being used, the individual’s health conditions, and their overall wellness goals. Some clients may begin to notice improvements within a few weeks, while for others, it might take a few months of consistent use. Our team will monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your personalized therapy plan to help you achieve optimal results.

While peptide injections are not weight loss treatments per se, however certain peptides can support weight loss efforts by boosting metabolism, reducing appetite, and enhancing muscle recovery. When used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise regimen, peptide therapy can help you achieve your weight loss goals more effectively. Our team can guide you in choosing the right peptides that align with your weight loss strategy.

Getting started with peptide therapy at Powers Medical Weight Loss & Wellness is simple. First, you’ll need to schedule a consultation with our team, where you will undergo a thorough health assessment. This process allows us to develop a personalized peptide therapy plan tailored to your individual needs and goals. You can easily book an appointment online or contact us directly via phone.

A comfortable and quick process, typically lasting 30-60 minutes. Expect to relax in a comfortable setting while you receive your IV infusion.

Generally well-tolerated; some may experience mild discomfort at the injection site.

It’s not a cure but can support overall health and symptom management.

Most clients report minimal to no discomfort.

Some benefits are felt immediately, while others develop over time.

Employers decide on prescription benefits for their employees. Don’t be discouraged if your company’s plan doesn’t include medicines to treat obesity. You can submit a request for coverage with the help of your health care provider.

Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover medicines for obesity. There may be some select Medigap and Medicare Advantage plans for retirees that do offer coverage. If you have one of these plans, please check with its administrator.

You’ll need to contact your state’s Medicaid office to learn if it covers medicines for weight management and obesity because each state decides for itself what prescription drugs to cover through Medicaid.

The VA will cover obesity management. Head to your local Veterans Administration provider office to discuss the obesity medication options.

In certain situations, your plan provides coverage for this medication. Your health care provider may request a coverage review to help determine if coverage is available. Please contact your Military Treatment Facility or Tricare Network provider to discuss.

If you work with the city, state, or federal government, ask your benefits manager about coverage for obesity medications.

Check with your insurance company to learn if you are eligible for an upgrade or an add-on to your plan.
